Who Is Dr. Mark Noar?

Dr. Mark Noar

Mark is a world-renowned physician who was one of the first adopters of the Stretta Procedure, a treatment for reflux disease. He is also responsible for additional refinements in the software and hardware and technique, which has become the standard of care in treating reflux and LPR. Prior to working in the field of reflux, he was considered one of the first and one of the most highly skilled therapeutic endoscopists in the biliary and pancreatic system. He pioneered a number of advances and devices in the field, which are credited with saving many lives. 

Along with his co-inventor, he founded a company that developed medical simulators in endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery on which many surgeons and endoscopists obtained thepr early training experiences. He authored a number of publications and chapters in the fiedl fo medical simulation and chaired the first International Symposium on Medical Simulation in Sydney Australia in 1990. As a result of this particular work, he was considered for nomination for a Nobel Prize. 

Continuing with his tradition of innovation and discovery, he was one of the co-inventors of Electrogastrography, for the study and diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal motility disorders. As a result of his work, he has authored a number of patents and received awards in the field.

In what is likely to be seen as his greatest accomplishment, he has invented a non-invasive rapid test for Endometriosis. The test has accuracy in the 98-99% range and is widely considered as groundbreaking, filling a vacuum in diagnostic testing for the disease.

Dr. Mark Noar, began his career as a Gastroenterologist and Therapeutic Endoscopist,  specializing in the advanced treatment of Reflux, Biliary and Pancreatic disorder, Reflux and  Neurogastroenterological Disorders.  Subsequently he has come to be known for his expert work in Gynecology, specifically in the study of Endometriosis. 

He completed his training in Gastroenterology at Downstate Medical Center/Brooklyn VA, in Brooklyn, New York.  His training in Therapeutic Endoscopy was under the direction of Dr. Nib Soehendra, in the Surgical Division at the University Hospital in Hamburg, Germany.  Prior to completing medical school, he received his M.P.H. in Tropical Medicine and International Health from Tulane University.  His Doctoral studies in Filariasis were conducted at the School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York.

Dr. Noar has numerous awards, publications and presentations to his credit, as well as inventions in Endometriosis, Reflux Disease, Medical Simulation, Endoscopic Biliary Instrumentation, and Electrogastrography.  Dr. Noar is known internationally for his research and work in the field of endoscopic endoluminal treatment for GERD, The Stretta Procedure and as a Stretta instructor to other physicians,  Secca correction of fecal incontinence, development of advanced medical simulation devices, the motility abnormalities associated with GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, electrogastrography and electroviscerography in the diagnosis of Endometriosis.
